Act 1 - Twilight of the Han
The success of Zhang Jiao's "Way of Peace" spiritual movement in Peng Cheng has exposed the weakness
of the Han Dynasty. Once the greatest empire on the face of the earth, the Han had long ago passed through it's Golden
Era and has entered a period of decay. Powerful nobels have seized most real power from the weak Emperor and have created
a financial crisis the likes of which China has not experienced in over a hundred years...
Zhang Jiao is not the only individual to capitilize on the Han's misfortune. Far to the south,
Meng Huo, leader of the Nanman Tribe, has rallied powerful warriors to his aid, both tribesmen and Chinese alike to fight
back against an empire that had long subjugated his people.
Everywhere, it seemed, common folk were taking up arms to side with the three forces. Some fought
for the restoration of the Han. Others fought for an equality that had existed from the beginning of time only in the minds
of revolutionaries. And yet others fought for reasons which could never be put into words. Theirs was a battle
not only of the land, but a battle for the mind and an enlightenment which would thrive only in a world free of the
Han. Each side, believing themselves in the right, were about plunge an entire empire into total war and launch
an era of chivalry and honor which would define a generation.
